2022 NHL Draft: Open thread about the Ottawa Senators
A place to discuss the rumours swirling around the Senators and the happenings from the 2022 NHL Draft.
It feels like we’re at a pivotal point in the Senators five-year long rebuild. While the last two drafts were quiet in terms of external chatter — potentially due to their virtual nature — this year’s return to in-person has meant that the hockey world is gathered in a city well-known for its buzz. While the hometown Habs are hoping to make a splash, will the Senators steal their thunder for the third time this decade?
There are many storylines:
- Will the Senators keep or trade the 7th overall selection?
- If they trade it, who will it be for? Alex DeBrincat? Jakob Chychrun? Clayton Keller? A mystery name?
- Will top prospects Shane Pinto, Ridly Greig, Roby Järventie, Jacob Bernard-Docker, Lassi Thomson, and Filip Gustavsson still be in the organization after today?
- If they keep it, will they select one of the consensus top forwards? A surprise faller? An off-the-board selection?
- Will the team move on from Nikita Zaitsev, Matt Murray, or Michael Del Zotto? /
We’re hoping you can discuss all of this, and more, in the comments section below!
