2024 NHL Draft Coverage: Reader poll
A chance to share your perspective on who should get airtime in our pre-draft profiles
Silver Seven has a long history of producing detailed coverage of the NHL Draft. From individual player profiles to consensus rankings, regional overviews to statistical deep dives, we've enjoyed the opportunity to translate the plethora of knowledge and resources about prospective NHLers to enhance your opinion.
As a reminder, here's Ottawa's current draft situation (via CapFriendly):
It's time to get your feedback on the type of coverage you'd like to see from our team of writers on the 2024 class. Here's what we're currently thinking:
Pre-draft
- a set of 5-7 detailed pieces on groups of players who are currently projected to be taken in the top-15
- a set of two pieces, one focusing on forwards and another on defenders, outlining who might be available around the time of the team's second first-round pick (via the Boston Bruins by way of Detroit) and early second-round pick
- a piece on a group of 3-7 draft-eligible goaltenders, given that the Senators have drafted at least one goalie in all but one draft since 2017
Draft day
- open threads on Friday, June 28th (Round 1) and Saturday, June 29th (Rounds 2-7) to provide a space for discussion
- quick hit pieces on each of the players selected by the Sens
Post-draft
Breaking up coverage in this way prioritizes information sharing on the players most likely to have an impact on the organization – the early round draft picks and goaltenders – instead of taking shots in the dark at later-round options. Information will still be shared about players taken after the third-round in our post-draft longread!
A new idea for this year is a draft mailbag Q&A piece, where I'd tackle some of your questions leading up to the draft.
Here's what we'd like from all of you:
- let us know in the comments section how you feel about this plan overall
- fill out this reader poll (via Google Forms) to have your vote of the players you'd prioritize for coverage for the team's first three picks (7th overall, mid-20s 1st/early 2nd), and to submit your mailbag question
We didn't expect to be doing so much draft-focused Sens coverage again this year, but now that it's here, we're looking forward to it!
