2024 NHL Draft: Discussion thread
The Senators are currently scheduled to pick at 7, 39, 104, 112, 117, 136. Discuss all of the day-of drama and changes here!
For the final time for the foreseeable future, it's the last draft day that will be like this: the spectacle of Las Vegas, all NHL teams gathered in one physical location, and draft eligibles and their loved ones anxiously awaiting for their name to be called.
It's widely expected that there will be plenty of moving pieces on draft day. For the NHL as a league, the expanded cap situation means there's more potential for player movement for the first time in four seasons; for individual teams, the draft order is fluid beyond first overall, so there's an expectations that teams might key in on "their player"; for the Senators, having already moved one first-round pick in the Linus Ullmark trade, there's potential for them to make a pick at 7th overall or move it around and acquire more or better assets.
Here's where the Senators currently stand:
- 1st round: 7th overall
- 2nd round: 39th overall
- 4th round: 104th overall, 112th overall (via the Alex DeBrincat trade), 117th overall (via the Mathieu Joseph trade)
- 5th round: 136th overall
