Binghamton Senators 4th Quarter Grades: Forwards

With the 2014-'15 season now in the books for the Binghamton Senators, it's time to review player evaluation's for the fourth quarter.

As the club had an up and down, streaky 4th quarter covering the very last 19 games of the season, the Senators put together a 11-8-0-0 record while clumping several winning streaks as well as losing streaks that witnessed them falling out of the playoffs for the first time in three years, as Binghamton ended up in third place in the East Division with an overall .500 record of 34-34-7-1, good for 76 points.

The offense has been fairly respectable this season in being consistent in the final quarter as well. The team ended up with the league's 2nd best power play with a 20.6% success rate, 0.1% behind frontrunner Manchester Monarchs, and tied for fourth with the Texas Stars in scoring with a 3.18 average per game. The Senators also averaged 32.33 SOG which was again good for fourth place in the league.

Over the course of the season, some players ended up having career highs in producing points and showing steady improvement as the year wore on, while others completely fell off the map, distancing them further down the depth chart. There were many, many fisticuffs as well with Binghamton ranking first in the AHL with a staggering 108 individual fights led by forward Darren Kramer's 26, 12 stand-offs better than 2nd place rival Syracuse Crunch.

So let's get right to it and break it down on an individual basis featuring the fourth quarter and the players primarily responsible for putting the team in front on the scoreboard.

No individual stats, just thoughts.

#10 Buddy Robinson - C+ Great PK'er, although hands of stone with the puck on the offensive side of things. Lacks grit for a player his size as he needs to work harder in the corners. Alarming good speed but disappointed with his progress as much was expected from the big fellow this quarter.

#11 Carter Camper - A Nice comeback after a slow beginning as the final quarter was his best. Want this player back and continue where he left off from leading to next year, as he proved himself with career numbers and finished the season strong. Amazing puck skills for a player his size.

#12 Danny Hobbs - C+ Good hustle and determination. Has come a long ways over the past two seasons sharing time in the ECHL as well as the AHL and looks to possibly earning a spot next season here with the club. Good defender and likes to get involved in front of the net fighting for position.

#15 Cole Schneider - B+ Scoring goals is his thing and didn't fail in the last quarter or the season as a whole. Reads the ice well while crashing the crease but slightly slow footed and lacks grit as two things he needs to work on next season that perhaps is holding him back to the next level.

#16 Garrett Thompson - D Meh. Nothing exciting to focus on but at least he's been consistently consistent all season long with little improvement. Should just cut ties and move on.

#17 Max McCormick - B- Awesome hustle on the ice and continued in the final quarter. Love this kid to bits and the potential he brings. Doesn't back down in dropping the mitts and pretty darn good at doing it with ferocious intensity. A grinder that has the willingness to go to the hard areas in creating havoc.

#18 Shane Prince - A+ Just a great season all around as he has matured and is more polished. Has the door slightly cracked open for potential play up top in the bottom six in the NHL. Although not sure where or how that will happen as the off season will be interesting to see which direction it takes. Gone are the days of riding the pine being healthy scratches.

#19 Brad Mills - C+ Nice quarter from the crafty veteran, hope he returns next season. Vicious fighter that surprises one as he sticks up for his team mates. Good speed for his age and has a few more years left in him. Wouldn't mind having him back as a veteran presence on and off the ice representing the B-Sens.

#27 Alex Guptill - D Often in and out of the line-up this quarter as that would follow the pattern all season long. Lacks skills with the puck and zero defense. Gets bumped off the puck easily. Can throw down the gloves on occasion as a bright note, I suppose. Another player that is expendable.

#37 Darren Kramer - C+ Gritty play and tries every time he hits the ice. Likes to run his mouth as he ended up with the most PIM in the league. Not a heavyweight by any means, but will be a willing dance partner with anybody taking on the toughest that are out there filling the role as a pest. Not too shabby on the skating but not so good with baking the biscuit.

#43 Ryan Dzingel - B- Very quick on his feet and creates on the offense as he's been fun to watch all season long. Utilized on the power play and pushes the pace of the game. Needs to add a few pounds during the off-season so he doesn't get bumped off the puck so easily at times. If he can do that and not lose his speed, look out.

#57 Derek Grant - B+ Still retains as one of the best on the PK and showed offensive skills in the final quarter that has been a pattern all season long. Paired up with Robinson on that penalty kill while being in the top six in the line up. Hard to play against forechecker. Showed leadership on the ice and if he's back next season, deserves to wear the C.
