Brady Tkachuk Signs His Entry-Level Contract

With pen put to paper, Tkachuk’s NCAA career is at an end

Probably the best bit of news we’ve had so far this summer, the Ottawa Senators have signed Brady Tkachuk to his entry-level contract.

Tkachuk scored 8 goals and 23 assists in his 40 NCAA games for Boston University last season. That was good for 5th on the team for goals, 1st for assists and 4th for points as the only 17 year old on the roster.

It’s a three year contract (determined by the CBA), worth $925,000 in the NHL and $70,000 in the AHL.

Ottawa and Belleville aren’t the only options for where he could end up, though. He’s one of the rare cases that is eligible to play in the OHL as well as the AHL and NHL. If he were sent to Junior, it is the London Knights that hold his rights at that level. This gives the organization more choice than usual in how to handle him this season, though if he does go to Junior he is still locked in there until London’s season ends like normal.

Where should Brady Tkachuk spend most of the 2018-19 season?

Ottawa - he’s NHL-ready now123
Belleville - he’s got to learn the pro game first171
London - let him dominate in Junior182
