BSens Frustrated For A Second Straight Night
The Senators were up by a score of 3-1 into the third period, just like on Friday in Syracuse, and end up on the losing side 4-3, just like on Friday.
What a disappointing weekend this has turned out to be.
Springfield scored three goals in the third period, all on the power play, as the Falcons defeated the Senators 4-3 before a raucous home crowd. Binghamton was in the drivers seat leading 3-1 in the third before falling apart once again for the second consecutive game. The loss spoiled a pair of goals by Max McCormick and netminder Chris Driedger's effort, as the club was cruising to a two goal lead after two periods, but taking undisciplined penalties cost them once again just like the night before in Syracuse.
Binghamton (4-9-1) has lost eight of their last nine games as you just can't help but feel this is turning out to be lost season starting to unfold just after 14 contests. Lots of hockey left though, but some things need to change to right the ship, and it begins with the players themselves.
Sens jump to a 1-0 lead in the first as McCormick scores his first of two goals on the night when David Dziurzynski finds him all alone in front, making a short pass as Spicy lifts it by rookie goaltender Nicklas Treutle. However, 1:23 later Springfield's Greg Carey gets the equalizer with his fifth of the season backhanding his own rebound shot up high by Driedger for a 1-1 contest.
In the second, a really good effort from Spicy and Dizzy as they break up the ice together creating a two on zero rush as Dziurzynski's drop pass is perfect to McCormick in front and he scores the go ahead goal for his fourth of the season sending good vibes the Senators way. But the celebration was halted for a moment, as Dziurzynski was tied up on the play by Springfield's Derek Smith sending him hard into the boards, back first. It appeared the violent collision took the wind out of him as he was helped off the ice only returning from the locker room a few minutes afterwards.
Senators take a two goal 29 seconds into the third when Cole Schneider scores his team leading seventh of the year, assisted by Colin Greening and Patrick Mullen, but the celebration would be short lived, as the Falcons scored the next three goals with the man advantage.
First Carey nets his second of the evening as the puck eludes Driedger finding eyes for the back of the net with defenseman Mark Fraser in the box. Less then a minute later, Jordan Szwarz ties it with a one-timer with McCormick serving a cross check. All panic breaks loose as Springfield pulls ahead with the puck hitting the crossbar and in by Driedger off the stick of forward Craig Cunningham, as he silents the natives in the stands.
Driedger would give his teammates hope in the winding minutes with a lucky, stick swinging save on Eric Selleck, but the Sens don't get enough shots off during the final minute with Driedger pulled sitting for the extra attacker sending waves of disappointment for the home fans once again.

NOTES
- Buddy Robinson back in the line up again tonight after missing two games early in the week being a healthy scratch. His replacement for those two games, Chris Carlisle, as he moves to his more natural position on defense, pairied up with Fredrik Claesson.
- Mullen sat the bench for what looked like the remainder of the first period after being on the ice on the Falcons' first goal. He should be scratched if I have anything to say about it as he's just been awful once again like last season.
- Fraser with a aggressive fight in the first with Falcons' D-man Steven Delisle in plumbing with a fury of rights sending him to the ice three separate times, dragging Fraser with him. Once again, I don't mind teammates sticking up for one another as Delisle delivered a cheap shot at Dziurzynski with his stick with Fraser taking notes.
- Binghamton's special team's have been this club's leading problem as the PP went 0/4 (15.4%, 17th in the AHL), while the PK was 3/6 (last in the league at 73.0%), yet they have a league leading 5 short handed goals.
-40 minutes doesn't cut it as the team played great 2/3rds of the way, but just like on Friday, it crumbled as they couldn't hold the lead. The team seems too fragile at times in making a mistake, as it has snowballed killing whatever confidence the player's might have. It's a terrible situation to be in as panic sits in which results into too many countless mistakes leading to penalties, which has become a wash, rinse and repeat scenario.
