Buddy Robinson & Andreas Englund Called Up
Forward Max McCormick returned as player movement is in full gear
It’s a little early for one, and the other gets another shot as rookie defenseman Andreas Englund and forward Buddy Robinson have been recalled from Binghamton while Max McCormick returns to the BSens in time for a three in three weekend that begins tonight in Providence.
With Fredrik Claesson on the IR with a hip injury and Mark Methot questionable for Saturday’s contest with the Florida Panthers, Englund will get a look as he’s been a steady player on a rather thin defense in Binghamton. A tough, hard hitting player that shuts down the lanes effectively has been Englund’s mojo so far after 18 games, and hasn’t looked out of place in his first year on North American soil.
He’s really the only option that Binghamton has to offer as there are three players on an AHL contract (Lepine, Carlisle and Rumble) that are not eligible. That leaves veteran Michael Kostka, who has been rough to watch, Patrick Sieloff, a recent healthy scratch and Ben Harpur. If it’s down to a toss up between Harpur or Englund, then Ottawa has the right man for their current needs.
Robinson has recorded three goals and four assists in 18 games and is a specialist on the PK. The 25 year-old New Jersey native is playing in his fourth year for the Senators and is getting his second chance with the big club since his three game stint last season in which he scored a goal and added an assist.
