Caps buy CapFriendly, Sens on the Goalie Hunt & More
The Washington Capitals are buying CapFriendly and are the Ottawa Senators in on every goalie conversation?
We're just a few weeks away from the news cycle heading into overdrive but, for now, here's what happening around the league.
- In an episode of 32 Thoughts, Elliot Friedman confirmed something I'm sure many Sens fans were hoping to hear. If there's a goalie on the market, the Ottawa Senators are at least "somewhere around" that conversation. This includes, of late, Jacob Markstrom.
- This morning, Ian Mendes released an article on the health and future of Tyler Boucher, one of the more polarizing Sens prospects in the pipeline.
- With the NHL Draft Combine underway, here's a summary of the intrigue coming out of that event heading into the Draft in a few weeks.
- Here's a piece on the standouts in every drill at the Draft Combine.
- An intriguing bit of news unlikely to impact the Senators is the Carolina Hurricanes making Jake Guentzel's rights available for trade. The veteran goal scorer is going to be a very popular name in the news cycle until he finds a landing spot.
- In a surprising news drop, the Washington Capitals have reportedly purchased CapFriendly and, at some point in July, the site will no longer be publicly available. For fans and teams alike, this kind of sucks.
- Mark Spector dives deep into some lineup decisions for the Edmonton Oilers ahead of the second game of the Stanley Cup Finals.
- Technically, Sidney Crosby is eligible to sign an extension in Pittsburgh this summer but, according to Pens GM Kyle Dubas, don't expect to hear much about it.
- Boston and Montreal are expected to host the NHL's "Four Nation's Tournament" - a tournament in which Boston's biggest star and current reigning world champion David Pastrnak's home country is not invited to participate. Somewhat hilarious if you ask me.
- Bettman and Walsh answer questions around the 4 Nations Face-Off, spiking salary cap and the potential for a second team in Toronto (?).
