Chris DiDomenico Recalled from Belleville
The injuries are beginning to pile up.
After recalling Ben Harpur and Filip Chlapik earlier in the week, the Ottawa Senators have made another transaction, this time giving the nod to Chris DiDomenico.
Roster update: #Sens recall forward Chris DiDomenico from @BellevilleSens.
— Ottawa Senators (@Senators) December 22, 2017
Mise à jour alignement : Les #Sens rappellent l’attaquant Chris DiDomenico de Belleville (LAH).
The 28-year-old veteran was brought back to North America from Switzerland last season, where he’s since played 15 games in the NHL and 13 in the AHL. He currently has nine points in ten games for Belleville this season, leading the team in points per game. He also managed to score six points in his dozen-game stint on Ottawa earlier in the season.
The Senators and DiDomenico had a brief separation earlier in the season, as he was claimed off waivers by Tampa Bay. The Senators reclaimed him a week later, with that coming the ability to send him to the minors waiver-free.
The recall is likely in response to Bobby Ryan re-injuring his hand in last night’s game against the Lightning. Gabriel Dumont is also still on the injured reserve with an ankle injury, and is recovering better than expected. Ryan is expected to be back for the game on December 27th against the Bruins, good news considering his (extremely) long history with hand injuries.
The team also released that Zack Smith is questionable for Ottawa’s next game with a shoulder injury. Craig Anderson is also ill, which may force the Sens into calling up a goalie.
Ottawa hits the ice again tomorrow at the BB&T center against the Florida Panthers. The B-Sens face off against the Syracuse Crunch (the Lightning’s affiliate) at home tonight.
