Conacher and Corvo on Waivers
The Senators have placed forward Cory Conacher and defenseman Joe Corvo on waivers.

In Corvo's case, the move is not surprising. The 36-year-old was brought in to add depth to the blue line and has been a healthy scratch for much of the season. He's played 25 games this season, and has recorded three goals and 10 points. His one-year, $900,000 deal runs out at the end of the season.
Conacher's waiver status is somewhat more surprising. Acquired from Tampa Bay last season along with a fourth round pick for current Vezina-candidate Ben Bishop, Conacher has spent much of this season as part of Ottawa's bottom-six. Despite this role, Conacher is one of Ottawa's better possession players, 52.8 CF% for the season. Conacher's played 59 games this season, notching four goals and 20 points and has enduring a lengthy scoring drought. He's on the last year of an affordable two-year, two-way deal that sees him collect $925,000 in the NHL and just $70,000 in the AHL.
Perhaps this is just the first step in a series of moves or maybe Bryan Murray is making room for Mike Hoffman and Mark Stone in the line-up.
