Daniel Alfredsson confirms return to the Ottawa Senators
As reported by Swedish journalist Marie Lehmann, Daniel Alfredsson is back for one more reason.
Daniel Alfredsson has decided to play another year. "The playoffs felt great. No backproblems". #nhl #sens

"I needed a few weeks to see if the necessary urge for summertraining and precamp was there. And it is", Daniel Alfredsson. #nhl #sens

"The chance to maybe play one more Olympics wasn't part of my desicion to continue BUT I'd like to, ofcourse", Daniel Alfredsson #sens

This is obviously great news for the Senators and this is one less position that Ottawa has to worry about. There is still the formality of a contract to work out, but that shouldn't be hard for both sides to figure out. Alfredsson's market value is probably around $5 or $6 million on a one-year deal, but it is possible that he might take less if Eugene Melnyk promises to spend the money elsewhere.
With Alfredsson confirmed back, Milan Michalek and Jakob Silfverberg, the Senators have three wingers for the top two lines already and Cory Conacher, Colin Greening and possibly Mika Zibanejad competing for the other spot.
