Egor Sokolov Signs 1-Year, 2-Way Deal
The fan favourite forward finds a league minimum deal
Egor Sokolov will be back in Ottawa (and Belleville) this season. His two-way deal carries the NHL minimum salary of $775k for when he's in Ottawa, but the AHL side of things will pay him a little better than the average there at $120k.
We recently looked at Sokolov in depth when he ranked 12th in this year's Top 25 Under 25, so we'll just replay the hits here. He had his best year yet in Belleville last season, putting up 59 points (21G, 38A) in 70 games. That puts him at number 1 on Belleville's all time scoring, leading both goals and assists, in 169 games with the team.
He hasn't been able to quite put it together at the NHL level though, only making it into 13 NHL games across the past two seasons. While he wasn't able to stick on the big club when he was called up, he did pick up his first two NHL points (1G, 1A) in the five games he played for Ottawa last season.
He will be in camp tomorrow.
