Erik Karlsson, Three Time All-Star
The captain is Ottawa's only representative for this year's game
What a shocker, I know - Erik Karlsson has been named to the Atlantic Division All-Star squad. He's the only Senator joining the Florida-heavy roster for the division, with the Panthers and Lightning providing five of the players (including both goalies).
This really isn't a surprise at all. Karlsson has not only generating Norris talk most of the season but also some hushed talk of Hart contention. He's fourth in league scoring, and first in the Eastern conference. He's four points up on the 2nd place D overall, and a whopping 15 points up on the second highest scoring D in the Atlantic (fellow All-Star P.K. Subban).
It's Karlsson's third visit to the All-Star game. That's somewhat impressive on it's own for a player in his 7th year, but consider this - it's only the fourth All-Star game to be played during his NHL career. He's only been passed over once.
Aaron Ekblad joins Karlsson and Subban to round out the defence. Jarmoir Jagr is the captain for the Atlantic squad, with Patrice Bergeron, Leo Komarov, Dylan Larkin, Ryan O'Reilly and Steven Stamkos making up the remaining forwards. Ben Bishop and Roberto Luongo will be in net.
