Game 2 Preview and Open Thread: Ottawa Senators @ Montreal Canadiens
The friendship tour continues
With the vibes absolutely immaculate in Ottawa, the Senators head to swineville to face off against the feral hogs--er, Montreal Canadiens. Montreal already did one really funny thing this season, shutting out Toronto in their first matchup of the season and to their credit, the Habs also scored four against Boston in a loss on Thursday night. Obviously for Ottawa, we all look forward to Linus Ullmark's second regular season contest after an impressive debut against Florida. If nothing else, I think we can all agree that we would like to see Ottawa's skaters take a bit off of Ullmark's plate and spend some more time in the offensive zone for the first road game of the young season. Here are tonight's lines:
- The Senators have a very important streak on the line in this one as they haven't lost a game against Montreal since March of 2022--no pressure though.
- Travis Green will also have his work cut out for him on the road trying to get the ideal matchups should Montreal decide to goon this one up following so many pre-season shenanigans. For all we know, this one could go by without incident but who knows, maybe we're seeing Zack MacEwen back in the lineup because the Sens don't need their best players languishing in the penalty box.
- Injuries of note for Ottawa: Matthew Highmore. And for Montreal: Rafael Harvey-Pinard, Patrik Laine, Jacob Perrault, David Reinbacher, and Jayden Struble.
