Game 6: Philadelphia Flyers @ Ottawa Senators
The Ottawa Senators will start a run of three games at Scotiabank Place when they host the Philadelphia Flyers tonight. From Ian Mendes, the Senators have beaten the Flyers seven games in a row in Ottawa, outscoring them 29-13. So we are good for a win right?
Here are the lines courtesy of the Ottawa Sun:
Colin Greening - Jason Spezza - Mika Zibanejad
Milan Michalek - Stéphane Da Costa - Daniel Alfredsson
Nick Foligno - Peter Regin - Chris Neil
Zack Smith - Zenon Konopka - Erik Condra
Filip Kuba - Erik Karlsson
Chris Phillips - Brian Lee
Jared Cowen - David Rundblad
Alex Auld (starter)
Craig Anderson
Stats and talking points after the jump.
Here are my talking points:
- Who plays against top line: Now that Phillips has been reunited with Lee, and the Senators are at home and can control machups, will Phillips play largely against the Claude Giroux line? If MacLean goes with Erik Karlsson again, it will definitely be a signal of Karlsson's rising role.
- Rookie pairing: How long will the pairing of Cowen/Rundblad last and how heavily will they be protected?
- Spreading out the offence: When the Senators needed offence against Washington, Paul MacLean loaded up on Spezza, Alfredsson and Michalek. He has gone back to splitting them apart, will that last?
- Auld starts again: Auld was good against Washington, though the winning goal was a terrible one to give up. How will he fare tonight?
- Strong defence: The Senators defence turned in their best defensive performance of the season, considering the talent on the other side. Can they hold a similarly potent Flyers lineup in check?
