Game 67 Preview and Open Thread: Ottawa Senators @ Pittsburgh Penguins
It’s a quick one-game road trip for the Sens
The Ottawa Senators have hit the road to Pittsburgh, for a single game road trip. They’ll be facing a slumping Penguins team, who have a current league-high streak of six regulation losses in a row.
Josh Norris was sent back down to Belleville after Saturday’s game, and Colin White will return to the lineup. Marcus Hogberg is in Sweden for family reasons, so Filip Gustavsson will be backing up Craig Anderson. Anthony Duclair took part in yesterday’s line rushes, with Scott Sabourin the odd man out, but it will be Sabourin and not Duclair dressing tonight so it’s not quite clear how the lines will change from yesterday’s:
Duclair - Tierney - Brown
Paul - White - Hawryluk
Balcers - Peca - Boedker
Chabot - Hainsey
Reilly - Zaitsevv Englund - Jaros
Anderson (starter)
Gustavsson
Game Notes
- Whatever the family reasons are for Hogberg’s absence, our best wishes go out to him and his family
- If the Penguins slide continues, they might actually be in danger of falling out of the playoffs. They’re already in danger of slipping to a wild card position
- The obvious thing to watch out for is playing the slump-buster role tonight, but the flip side is that if Ottawa can take control early it could throw the Pens off their game
- Chabot’s lowest TOI in the past four games is 27:55, with the other three games all over 30 minutes. Yikes
- While he’s out tonight, DJ Smith is hopeful that Duclair will be available for Thursday’s game back in Ottawa
- It’s a 7pm start, on TSN5 and RDS2
- Stepping away from tonight’s game for a moment, our thoughts go out to the staff and community over at On the Forecheck, and to all of Tennessee, after last night’s devastating and deadly tornadoes/
