Game 73 Hub: Ottawa Senators @ Winnipeg Jets
The Senators look to extend their winning streak to five and extend the Jets losing streak to six.
The Ottawa Senators have continued their extremely streaky play, as after losing seven in a row, winning three in a row, then losing three in a row again, they have now, you guessed it, won four in a row. It's been an incredibly odd stretch of play, although they've looked good over these past four games.
These final 10 matches clearly don't mean much of anything for them, but it will hopefully give the team a sense of what they should do this off-season and who is worth keeping around. Tonight will be a great test on the road against a very good Winnipeg Jets team that is fighting for the highest seed they can get in the Western Conference. The Jets are currently 3rd in the Central Division with 94 points but they are four back of the Colorado Avalanche for 2nd and also four points up on the Nashville Predators in the wildcard spot.
Here are the projected lines:
Connor Hellebuyck will be in net for the Jets:
Game Notes:
- The Jets have lost five games in a row, so these teams have been opposites over the past little bit.
- Tyler Kleven will stay in the lineup, and I'm intrigued to see how he does. Chabot may be ready to return on Tuesday though, which is good news.
- Angus Crookshank continues to get a chance with Tim Stützle and Claude Giroux, which I love.
- The Jets are very reliant on their elite goaltending from Connor Hellebuyck, as you can see in the tables below that their special teams are below average and their possession game is good but not amazing. That still doesn't make it any easier to beat Hellebuyck and his .920 SV%.
- Gabriel Vilardi has played just 38 games this season for Winnipeg, but he's done very well with 30 points in that time. He returns to the lineup for the first time since February 29th.
- Joonas Korpisalo gets the nod tonight, looking to extend his personal win streak to four. His previous game save percentages were .944%, .917%, and .900%, so he's looking to keep that rolling.
- Parker Kelly has now surpassed his career-high goal total with 8, and he has looked great with Boris Katchouk and Mark Kastelic. He's at 17 points on the season, can he get to 20?
- Puck drop is 7pm eastern. You can watch on CityTV/Sportsnet or listen on TSN1200
