Game 9 Prediction Panel: Calgary Flames @ Ottawa Senators
Have a few days off changed our optimism?
Remember to put your predictions in the comments to this post by the scheduled start time for it to count as an entry in our prediction contest! You can read the full rules on that here, and see the results and all of the entries (might both be a bit behind) here.
Adnan3-2 Senators
GWG: Erik Karlsson
Erik Karlsson uses the return of Marc Methot to once again trust his defensive partner with a pass. Calgary plays a terrible game but stays close thanks to the Cowen Borowiecki pairing.
Record: 3-5, 3 Points
0 Exact Scores, 0 Game Winning Goals
4-1 Senators
GWG: Chris Neil
The Senators have a fire under their butt after Coach Cameron’s comments and their strong possession play for the last two games pay off vs. a porous Flames squad that continues to get poor goaltending. Calgary’s depth has been especially bad, so Ottawa’s 3rd/4th lines cash in.
Record: 1-7, 2 Points
1 Exact Scores, 0 Game Winning Goals
5-4 Senators
GWG: Shane Prince
I was going to predict a lower score, but the last two games have me hesitant on that. I expect another late collapse, but late enough to still get the W. With Hoffman unlikely it looks like Prince will get some top-line time, and I think that pays off right away.
Record: 3-5, 4 Points
1 Exact Scores, 0 Game Winning Goals
4-3 Senators
GWG: Erik Karlsson
The Senators are due for a win at home and the captain is due for a goal anywhere.
Record: 4-4, 6 Points
1 Exact Scores, 1 Game Winning Goals
4-2 Senators
GWG: Alex Chiasson
Sens will finally get their first W at home, and there's no better night to get it started than a Wednesday night on SportsNet One.
Record: 4-4, 6 Points
1 Exact Scores, 1 Game Winning Goals
3-1 Senators
GWG: Jean-Gabriel Pageau
The Sens carry the play against the unexpectedly hapless Flames, and only a starring role from their goalie keeps this one close. Pageau gets the GWG on a short-handed breakaway, as he does.
Record: 6-2, 7 Points
0 Exact Scores, 1 Game Winning Goals
No Pick Submitted.
Record: 4-4, 4 Points
0 Exact Scores, 0 Game Winning Goals
5-1 Senators
GWG: Matt Puempel
In his first game with the big team, Puempel gets a shot in the top six and capitalizes with a goal. Somehow, Shane Prince gets passed in the depth chart despite making Neil and Smith look like scorers.
Record: 5-3, 5 Points
0 Exact Scores, 0 Game Winning Goals
4-2 Senators
GWG: Jean-Gabriel Pageau
Almost everyone thought Ottawa was going to win both games against the Devils and Coyotes, yet they only got 1 point in those games. You'd think that the Senators finally take advantage of a weak team in the Flames on home ice.
Record: 2-6, 3 Points
0 Exact Scores, 1 Game Winning Goals
