Game 9 Preview & Open Thread: Detroit Red Wings @ Ottawa Senators

The Senators return to the CTC after a disappointing road trip, to face the also-struggling Detroit Red Wings.

In a move that some fans have been calling for, the Sens have recalled Logan Brown in advance of tonight’s game. The reason for that recall is a pair of injuries. Artem Anisimov is expected to miss 1-2 weeks with a lower body injury, and Colin White is out for 3-5 weeks with a hip flexor/groin injury. J.C. Beaudin is expected to get his NHL debut tonight as well.

With the injury and recall changes, here are the lines from today’s morning skate:

Game Notes

• Detroit comes into tonight on the heels of their fifth regulation loss in a row
• It’s a back-to-back for the Wings too. Jimmy Howard played last night, so the Sens will probably face Jonathan Bernier. I’m not sure if this counts as the 7th backup Ottawa will face or not since they seem to be splitting the load so far
• After finally breaking the ice in Arizona, the power play looked pretty dismal again in Dallas
• The penalty kill, while having more success, doesn’t look much better with a league-high 129.7(!) attempts against per 60 minutes of 4 on 5
• It’s a 7:30 start on Sportsnet360, Sportsnet One, RDS2 and TSN1200/
