Jean-Gabriel Pageau Signed
The Game 3 legend signed for 2 more years
Jean-Gabriel Pageau has been signed by the Senators for two more years. It's a one way contract worth $900k per year, broken down as $700k in year one and $1.1m in year two. No word on no move or no trade clauses, but it seems unlikely.
Pageau posted 19 points in 50 regular season games this season, almost evenly split between goals (10) and assists (9). Before getting the call up part way through the season, he netted 11 goals and 10 assists in 27 games for Binghamton. A whopping nine of his 31 career points (including playoffs) have come against Montreal.
He was no slouch in advanced stats either, posting a positive possession rate over the course of the season. He really excelled when matched up with Erik Condra and Curtis Lazar, however. Both players had possession numbers several points higher when playing with Pageau, and Pageau had better numbers when playing with each of them.
This deal is an incredible value for the team. Pageau is a local boy from across the river, earned his status as a fan favourite with his hat trick against Montreal in 2013 Game 3, and was robbed from further cementing that status by a quick whistle in Game 6 this year. His line with Condra and Lazar was also one of the most exciting Senators lines to watch in some time as well.
Pageau is an absolute steal at under a million for two years. Lazar makes him quite a bit better, too. pic.twitter.com/6CBFW9LkEk

Here's looking forward to two more years of JGP. The team is better off with his drive, his never-back-down attitude, and his habit of feasting on the Habs.
