Links, News, and Notes: Belleville in the Playoffs
Plus NCC still bullish on LeBreton and Alfie's continuing legacy
The Ottawa Senators' season may be over, but there's still lots to talk about around the hockey world. Come join us while we bring you up to speed on all the goings-on:
- The NCC still says LeBreton is the best spot for the Sens. To me, it makes too much sense to not happen. Nonetheless, the team and the mayor continue to kick around other potential optinos.
- Tim Baines has a story about how Tim Stützle is learning a 200-ft game from Alfie. Not too many better options around these parts!
- Former VP of the Sens Jeff Kyle passed away. He'd been involved with the team since the bid to bring a franchise back to Ottawa. Our condolences to his family and friends.
- Apparently, Alfie is not a candidate for the head coaching role. (Yet.)
- Meanwhile, the Belleville Senators are going to the playoffs for the second time. They start on Wednesday against the Marlies — and have home-ice advantage. Stay tuned for some extra special B-Sens coverage ahead.
- PWHL Ottawa has been a roaring success, and after Montreal set a new record for attendance at a women's hockey game on the weekend, could games at the CTC happen? In my opinion, I'd love to see a playoff game with 19,000+ fans on hand.
- Moving beyond Ottawa, a 5–1 loss in Game 1 has the Leafs already talking like the sky is falling. We love to see it.
- Details are scant, but it sounds like Ryan Johansen's NHL career could be at its end.
- And finally, Egor Sokolov is playoff ready
