Mark Stone Injury Confirmed
After much speculation in broadcast and among fans of both teams, Stone's wrist injury was confirmed by team officials this morning.
The first round series between the Ottawa Senators and Montreal Canadiens got heated early when midway through the second period of game 1, P.K. Subban slashed Mark Stone on the wrist. Subban was assessed a five minute penalty and game misconduct, and Mark Stone was in and out of the game for the remainder of the night favouring his wrist.
The Senators have updated his injury status and it's not good.
Bryan Murray: "Obviously, Mark Stone is very questionable for the series." Says there is a micro fracture and some ligament damage.

"We knew before the game was over that he was trying to play hurt." - #Sens GM Bryan Murray on Stone returning to the line-up last night

Injury update: #Sens Mark Stone has suffered a microfracture of his right wrist & his availability for the series is unknown at this time.

What does that mean? Let's ask a doctor:
Re: It's "just" a microfracture. It's a fracture. His wrist is broken. That hurts. It's not poking through skin, but it's broken.

The thing about a wrist is it has a bunch of little bones, some of which don't have great blood supply. A small fracture can be a big deal.

Ligament damage for Stone? Well, that's bad.

Can Stone still play? He did for a while last night. So maybe. Will he? Should he? Hell if I know. He won't be 100% though. Guarantee that.

If Stone plays game 2 and how much of an impact he'll have is anyone's guess.
Should Subban have been suspended for his slash on Stone?
