Monday LNN: The Regular Season is Here!
It's the Monday edition of Links, News and Notes!
- It's Thanksgiving today, and the Sens are playing host to the LA Kings, but fans who show up to the CTC won't receive the gravy boats they were promised for the promotional night, because of a labour dispute in Halifax that left the gravy boats stranded. This feels like something that would have happened to this team in 2018. Never change, Sens.
- Lots of people around the NHL were excited to see 1st overall pick Macklin Celebrini make his debut, and he impressed us all with a goal in his first game, but unfortunately he's already been placed on injured reserve. That's a tough break for the kid, so hopefully he doesn't miss too much time.
- Over in Vancouver, the Canucks honoured Alex Edler by having him sign a one day contract to retire as a Canuck.
- I know a lot of us only subscribed to The Athletic to read Ian Mendes's coverage of the team, but consider giving his replacement, Julien McKenzie, a chance. Read his four takeaways from Saturday's loss to the Habs, including a good breakdown of Ottawa's defensive structure.
- The start of the Sens season means that Game Over Ottawa is back, this time independent instead of under SDPN! Check out their YouTube channel for their takes on the first two games, and make sure to tune into their live shows after each game.
- And finally, the PWHL has announced the rosters for training camp, which is set to begin on November 12th. It feels strange for the season to be starting so late, but I guess this way they'll get to have their moment after the hype around the NHL has died down a bit.
