Monday LNN: World Medals Update Winners, Jets Hire New Coach and More

- While some fans have been preoccupied with the NHL and PWHL playoffs, the World Championships were crowning their winners. After Switzerland stunned Team Canada in the semis and advanced to the Gold Medal game, they settled with a Silver medal after getting shut out by Team Czechia 2-0. In the bronze medal game, Sweden beat Canada for an all-European championship podium.
- Speaking of the Worlds, the Sens were well represented. Czechia's top goal scorers were our very own notes goal-scorer Dominik Kubalik with 5 goals tied with teammate Lukas Sedlak.
- Scott Arniel will be the new Winnipeg Jets coach, replacing Rick Bowness who retired a few weeks ago. Arniel has been part of the coaching staff for the past 2 years before being promoted to head coach.
- In Carolina, Don Waddell has stepped down as President and GM of the team. He is already rumored to be heading to the Blue Jackets. Nobody really expects him to remain unemployed for too long as his experience with the Hurricanes comes with very impressive results. With his departure, Eric Tulsky, former Flyers blogger at SB Nation, has been named interim GM.
- The New York Rangers are becoming playoff overtime experts. After a troubled third period yesterday, they found a way to salvage the game and get the lead in the series after beating the Panthers 5-4 in overtime with a foal from Alex Wennberg.
