  • Rosters get set today, and every fan is setting their expectations for the year. Over at Sportsnet, Justin Bourne does a quick trip through the league with his expectations for each team. I think he gets Ottawa pretty much right, but I'm not sure I like that he used a golf metaphor to do it
  • We're still waiting on a schedule from the PWHL, but we did get dates for the pre-season with the announcement of pre-season mini camps. The camps will take place November 19th to 22nd with Montreal hosting Boston and Ottawa, while Toronto will host New York and Minnesota. Training camp itself opens on November 12th, and final rosters need to be in for November 27th
  • In a bit of a surprising move that came after this morning's Training Camp Check-In, the Sens have sent Yakemchuk back to the WHL. Not that anybody expected him to stay for the season, but you'd think he either would have been sent back a little sooner, or would get a taste of regular season hockey before returning to the Hitmen
  • Poor Erik Brännström. He landed on a pretty good team in Colorado back in July, albeit pretty far down their depth chart, only to get traded to Vancouver for cap relief and immediately put on waivers. No, I don't expect Ottawa to put in a claim
  • Hurricanes are playing havoc in Florida - the weather events, not the team. After rescheduling a pre-season game to tonight due to Hurricane Helene, Tampa Bay has now cancelled it due to Hurricane Milton bearing down on the city. The Panthers have also cancelled their public Cup Ring presentation tonight due to the state of emergency, and instead will do a private ceremony. The Panthers are still set to open their season at home tomorrow night against Boston, though that could change
  • The Bruins have managed to get Swayman signed before the start of the season, to an eight year, $66m deal. It went far enough that Korpisalo is still planned to start tomorrow night... but see the previous point on that one
