Monday LNN: More Horror From The Blackhawks, Players Testing Neck Guards and More
Monday's Edition of the Links, News and Notes
- Everything that has come out of the Chicago Blackhawks organization regarding the abuse of Kyle Beach and all the events that proceeded have been horrifying. It seems that the story gets even worse as a second player has come forward with a lawsuit against the Blackhawks. WARNING: disturbing details within the article.
- The NHL might find it easier than expected to introduce neck guards into the league. A number of players this week have opted to test out the equipment after the tragic Adam Johnson accident, including Erik Karlsson, Claude Giroux, Josh Norris and T.J. Oshie.
- Calgary Flames forward Andrew Mangiapane has been suspended one game for cross-checking the Seattle Kraken's Jared McCann. That seems a bit light!
- Zdeno Chara is still making his fans proud, this time in a completely different arena than we're used to. Zdeno was seen towering over the competitors at the New York City marathon, which he completed in a very strong 3:19:19.
- Hockey Canada has announced the roster for the Canada-USA rivalry games this month. The games will take place November 8th and 11th with the led by Olympic Captain Marie-Phillip Poulin.
- Gina Kingsbury, who will be managing Toronto's new PWHL team, will have an additional job on her resume: Hockey Canada announced that Kingsbury will oversee the national team for the 2026 Olympics taking place in Italy.
- While Steve Staios is filling the Sens' GM void for now, I don't think this is the position he was planning to be in long-term. As for replacement, there have been many names thrown around and now a new candidate has entered the race: Bruce Garrioch is reporting that Shawn Horcoff's name is being rumoured as a potential replacement for Pierre Dorion. Horcoff is a former teammate of Staios so it makes sense that his name would be connected with the vacant position.
