Monday LNN: The First Sweep, Playoff Injuries and More

- The Washington Capitals were more than lucky to get into the playoffs. Their luck ran out when the playoffs started though with the New York Rangers overpowering them with the first sweep of the playoffs.
- The Vancouver Canucks are enjoying a 3-1 series lead over the Nashville Predators even with the loss of Thatcher Demko. They did, however, get dealt another blow to their lineup with the injury to goalie Casey DeSmith. While Arturs Silovs shined in his first playoff game, how long can he sustain the pressure of a starting goalie?
- Auston Matthews left after 2 periods in Game 4. A critical game that put the Leafs on the brink of elimination. He is now considered questionable for Game 5 and the details around his injury are extremely vague.
- The NHL draft lottery has been set for May 7th with the San Jose Sharks being the favourite to land the #1 pick at 18.5% odds. The Ottawa Senators currently slated to pick at spot #7 have a 6.5% chance to move up to #1.
- The NHL is heading to Amazon. The league signed a 2-year agreement with Amazon to stream some games on Monday nights which will only be available to Prime members.
- After missing the past two years with concussion problems, Jakub Voracek is officially retiring from the NHL. Voracek has played over 1,000 games with the Philadelphia Flyers and the Columbus Blue Jackets.
