Ottawa Hockey Analytics at Carleton - February 7, 2015
There will be a hockey analytics conference at Carleton University in Ottawa this February. Best of all, anyone can attend!
Do you like hockey? Do you like stats? Do you want to learn more about the analytics movement and how it's changing hockey? Well, you're in luck! a hockey analytics conference is coming to Carleton University in conjunction with St. Lawrence University (NY) on February 7, 2015.
Details are still being worked out, but so far confirmed speakers are as follows (according to @joshweissbock):
- Tom Awad, Hockey Abstract: an old hockey analytics guy, one of the first and rare for him to come out and speak
- Michael Schuckers, St. Lawrence University: statistics professor; came up with Total Hockey Ratings (statsportsconsulting.com/
thor/ ) - Andrew Thomas, University of Florida and war-on-ice.com, Sam Ventura, war-on-ice.com: these two guys run War-on-Ice the extraskater replacement
- Rob Vollman, Hockey Abstract, Hockey Prospectus: another old mind in hockey analytics
- Stephen Burtch, Sportsnet.ca, Pension Plan Puppets
- Josh Weissbock, The Hockey Writers, Canucks Army: discussing prospects and the draft in general.
