The move comes less than a week after the 26 year-old Wolanin was waived by the Senators, with the writing apparently on the wall that the team was electing to move on from him. The Quebec City native has posted three assists in 15 games this season, and five goals and 13 assists over his 58-game NHL career.
It is a disappointing conclusion to Wolanin’s tenure in Ottawa. Selected in the fourth round by the Senators in 2015, Wolanin was was expected to be a mainstay in the NHL lineup this season, but appeared to have fallen out of the coach’s favour. He projects to be a restricted free agent at the end of the year.
A third-round pick of the Kings in 2014, Amadio has amassed 16 goals and 23 assists over 39 points in 168 NHL games. The 24 year-old Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario native has two assists in 20 games with LA this season, as well as another two with the AHL’s Ontario Reign.
Amadio’s best NHL season came last year, scoring six goals and 10 assists in 68 games. He has also scored 104 points in 130 AHL games, making him a much-needed offensive reinforcement for the Belleville Senators.
He will be a restricted free agent upon this season’s conclusion.
