Senators Ink Eric O'Dell to One-Year Contract
The former Jets centre signed with Ottawa for one year and $700k.
It's safe to say Ottawa Senators fans didn't see this one coming.
The #Sens have agreed to terms with forward Eric O’Dell on a one-year, two-way contract.

The deal pays O'Dell $700,000 at the NHL level and $300,000 at the AHL level. With Ottawa's centre depth being what it is, this is likely not much more than a depth signing to help out Binghamton. Last year, O'Dell only played 11 games with the Jets, recording one assist. He recorded 14 goals and 15 assists in 37 games with the St. John's IceCaps of the AHL last year.
O'Dell was a 39th-overall pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. He was born in and grew up in Ottawa, playing for Ottawa West Golden Knights, the Ottawa Jr. Senators, and the Cumberland Grads before playing with Sudbury in the OHL. In 41 career NHL games, he has eight points. In 180 career AHL games, he has 148 points. He also 14 points in 24 career AHL playoff games. I'd be surprised to see O'Dell suit up for even one game with the big club next year.
