Ottawa Senators Prospect Awards 2024 - Reader Voting
It's that time of year
Well, it was fun while it lasted but the Belleville Senators' season came to an abrupt halt at the hands of the Cleveland Monsters. Spencer will have the full autopsy for you this week and in the meantime you can start thinking about your ballots for our annual awards piece.
Just to give you a quick rundown, we'll have the same categories that we always do, plus some writers' choice submissions from the staff. We probably should rename 'Mann of the Year' at some point but old habits die hard, or so they say. We'll also start our annual draft coverage and with any luck we'll have some shinier new prospects soon to make up for this dud of a season. I would argue that because the Sens' farm system this season paled in comparison to previous iterations, we should have some really close finishes in these categories.
- Most Improved Prospect: Who was kinda cromulent last year and very cromulent this year? Previous winner: Tyler Kleven
- Biggest disappointment: Who made us look foolish for getting our hopes up? Previous winner(?): Lassi Thomson (how's that for topical!?)
- Top Newcomer: Andonovski, Beckner, Nikitin, Stanley, Toure, or Vantassell? Previous winner: Jorian Donovan
- Mann of the Year/Late-Round pick: Who had the best season among draftees from the third round or later? Previous winner: Maxence Guenette
- Best Defender: The Jake Sanderson Award. Previous winner: Tyler Kleven
- Top Goaltender: My personal favourite and probably the tightest race. Previous winner: Mads Søgaard
- Most Valuable Prospect: Who has the best chance at making an impact in Ottawa in the coming seasons? Previous winner: Ridly Greig
Thanks as always to everyone who hung around this season for our coverage and thank you in advance for your votes for this year's awards. I look forward to writing up these profiles and I hope you all look forward to reading them. See you at the draft!
