Game 26: Binghamton snaps four game skid with shutout victory over Albany

From the opening faceoff to the final buzzer, the Binghamton Senators had the game. Binghamton got on the board first with a powerplay goal from Corey Locke, and ended the first 2-0 with Colin Greening's fifth goal of the season. Binghamton had a huge shot advantage of 14-5. The second was the same way. Binghamton scored on the powerplay, a Mike Hoffman goal, and Zack Smith scored his fourth goal in the AHL to make it 4-0. Binghamton again held the shot advantage in the period at 16-11. Erik Condra would score the lone goal in the third and the B-Sens took it 5-0. All this without Bobby Butler.

Locke got his seventh multi-point game of the season tonight with a goal and assist tonight. In the words of Erik Condra, Locke is a "unbelievable playmaker".

Game 27: Binghamton falls to Rochester in shootout

Dramatic game in Binghamton Saturday night. The Senators got on the board first with two special teams goals: Derek Smith had a PP goal and Jim O'Brien had a shorthanded one. That was Binghamton's second shorthanded goal, and also the second by O'Brien. Michael Duco scored the Amerks only goal in the first. Both teams went scoreless in the second as the goalies went save-for-save, which is to be expected as the goalies tonight are two of the top goaltending prospects in the NHL (both Swedish, too). The third period would be only time the Americans felt into single digit shots, but they had two goals anyway, from Bates Battaglia and Clay Wilson, to give Rochester the lead. Locke tied the game for Binghamton after an amazing set-up from Erik Condra. Binghamton got a lucky break in overtime, as Battaglia was sent to the box for two minutes on a tripping call. The Americans wouldn't get a shot in overtime, but Jacob Markstrom wouldn't let any shots in. In the shootout, A.J. Jenks was the only scorer, (Kaspars Daugavins even did his famous shootout spin-o-rama, but missed) and the Americans won 4-3.

Arguably the NHL's top goalie prospect, Markstrom made 45 saves tonight, and stopped all six Binghamton shots in overtime on the 4-on-3 penalty kill. Markstrom's going to be good.

Lehner Watch
Lehner was on top of his game tonight. He had 29 saves, and allowed only three goals. A huge problem tonight was Robin Lehner's five-hole. Which all three goals were scored on. Still, a fine performance.

Game 28: Binghamton rally's pasts Rochester in the shootout

Another game against Rochester, another shootout, but a win this time? Yup, the Binghamton Senators were able to fight back against the Rochester Americans to win the second game of the home-and-home. Binghamton was silent in the first, as the only goal of the game came from Rochester defensemen Joe Callahan. But the B-Sens were able to fight back thanks to two goals from Locke and one from each of Andre Benoit, Condra, and D. Smith to send the game to overtime--and then the shootout. Like Saturday night, A.J. Jenks scored the Americans only shootout goal, but unlike Saturday night, Binghamton was able to score. Benoit tied to the shootout at one, and Kaspars Daugavins won the game. However, he didn't the boring traditional way, but a shootout goal in a shootout goal, and Binghamton won 6-5.

BSens Hero: Erik Condra
It's no secret Erik Condra is my favorite Binghamton Senator, and tonight he had four points (1G/3A). Binghamton's rookie leader in points last season has really stepped his game up, and is starting to get looks from the front office. Looks like I need to find another low-key guy to become a fan of, because Condra is getting too popular.
BSens Hero: Andre Benoit
The leading defensemen in points is back. After going on a point drought that would make make him a scapegoat in Ottawa, Benoit scored his second goal and was a beast on the offense. His two assists were excellent passes to both Corey Locke and Erik Condra, Benoit had the highest shots on goal with six!

Game 24: Devils sneak by Jackals, 5-4

Not a pretty game for Elmira at First Arena. The Devils got on the board first with a Ryan Ginand and 50 seconds later by Matt Vokes. Eric Regan would answer back to cut the lead to one in the first. In the second, Yannick Tifu tied the game seconds after the period started, and Andrew Sweetland would give Elmira it's first lead of the night at 3-2. Elmira would score its final goal from A.J. Perry to extend the lead to 4-2, but the Devils would score three unanswered goals to win it. Ryan Hayes would score off a one timer to make it a one goal game, and Ryan Ginand would tied it just 12 seconds into the third. Jean-Sebastien Berube would score the game winning goal with a wraparound with 8:19 left in the game.

Game 25: Jackals blanked by Royals, 5-0

The Jackals had their first shutout loss of the season to the division-rival Reading Royals. John Scrymgeour would score off a Jackals turnover to get Reading on the board first, and Matt Caruana redirected a shot to make it a 2-0 game. Dallas Jackson (awesome name) would score his first professional goal on the powerplay, to make it 3-0 in the first. Jared Ross would score on the breakaway to add to make the blowout 4-0, and Ben Gordon notched the game's final goal in the third. All 27 Jackals shots were stopped by Matt Dalton.

Mark Stone leads the Brandon Wheat Kings in points and is tied for sixth in the WHL. Jared Cowen is second among Chiefs defensemen in scoring, fourth overall, and leads the team in plus/minus. Jakub Culek is 11th in points for the Rimouski Oceanic.

Sweden

David Rundblad leads Skelleftea defensemen in points and is third overall. Jakob Silfverberg is tied for second in points for Brynas. Emil Sandin is on loan to Mora IK of HockeyAllsvenskan. Markus Sorensen has been called up to Djurgårdens IF, he also scored in his first game.

College

Louie Caporusso is second in Michigan scoring. Derek Grant is third in scoring on Michigan State. Chris Wideman leads Miami defensemen in points and is sixth on the team in points. Bryce Aneloski is tied for second in Nebraska-Omaha defensemen scoring. Michael Sdao leads in PIMs.
