Ottawa Senators prospect roundup: October 5, 2010
As I'm sure you all know, the Binghamton Senators played a three-game preseason series against the Hamilton Bulldogs. And although the B-Senators lost all three of those games--one in a shootout--some players have made a positive impression. Here are my comments from each of the three games:
Game 1: Binghamton 0, Hamilton 3
- Mike Brodeur looked (or sounded) very good. Both goals scored on him were deflections, and since it was his first game in about year and he had only played in only two practices, I think we can give him a break (plus he's recovering from injury).
- Barry Brust looked good as well. Both goalies played in this game, and the only goal scored on Brust was when his helmet was off. But besides that "goal" he was perfect
- Kurt Kleinendorst liked the effort of Colin Greening, Jim O`Brien, Erik Condra and hints that this might be the his first line when the season starts. Zack Smith and Bobby Butler might have something to say about that.
- Eric Gryba is awesome. Like I said, if you were a fan of Andy Sutton, Eric Gryba is your new favorite Binghamton Senator. He's not only a monster, he's also a great stickhandler.
- Former Binghamton Senators Captain, Denis Hamel, is currently playing in the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey (LNAH) for the Saguenay Marquis. He was a hugely popular captain in his time with the B-Sens, and is a great person, to boot. I wish him luck with his new team.
Game 2: Binghamton 2, Hamilton 3
- Roman Wick scored the first goal for Binghamton by beating Peter Delmas on the high blocker side. Besides that, Wick went MIA.
- Andre Benoit was credited with the second goal, but Erik Condra might have tipped it in. Looks like the world may never know who really scored.
- Erik Condra might be Binghamton's best forward.
- Barry Brust played the full 60 today, and Kleinendorst was of the opinion that two of the three goals weren't Brust's fault.
Game 3: Binghamton 3, Hamilton 4 (Shootout)
- Roman Wick stock is dropping. After scoring the first goal for Binghamton in the preseason, he declared "Mission Accomplished" and stopped playing hockey. He had an awful giveaway that lead to goal and hardly played any defense. On the plus side, it's just the preseason.
- Mike Brodeur played a pretty good butterfly game. All the goals allowed on him were top shelf.
- Kaspars Daugavins pulled off the sickest shootout goal ever in a preseason game, here's the video. Watch it!
