Ottawa Senators Prospects Thomas Chabot, Colin White To Play at World Juniors
The Sens' 2015 first-rounders will face each other to start the tournament on Boxing Day.
The Ottawa Senators 2015 first-rounders are both headed to the World Junior Championships. 18th-overall pick Thomas Chabot of the QMJHL's Saint John Sea Dogs was named as a defenceman on Canada's squad. Chabot has 20 points in 22 games so far this season. 21st-overall pick Colin White was named to Team USA, and was announced as an alternate captain for all games billed as Team USA away games. This expanded leadership role can only improve the already lofty visions the Sens have for him. White currently has 23 points in 16 games in his freshman season at Boston College.
Last year, Sens prospect Curtis Lazar captained Team Canada to gold. Sens fans will be hoping to get a better look at the two most noteworthy prospects Ottawa took in the 2015 draft. Additionally, 2015 48th-overall pick Filip Chlapik will be playing for the Czech Republic, and 2014 40th-overall pick Andreas Englund will be playing for Sweden. (Edit: 2015 5th-round pick Christian Jaros will also be playing, captaining Slovakia. s/t to reader xhiggy83)
The World Junior Championships will begin on December 26th in Helsinki, Finland. Canada's tournament opens against Team USA at 1 p.m. Eastern Time. All games will be broadcast locally on TSN. Make sure to join us in our tournament open thread!
