Senators Recall Max Lajoie, J.C. Beaudin, and Christian Jaros from Belleville
Vladislav Namestnikov has been placed on IR.
In what is somewhat short notice ahead of tonight’s contest against the New York Rangers, the Ottawa Senators have recalled defencemen Max Lajoie and Christian Jaros, as well as centre J.C. Beaudin from the Belleville Senators.
The team also placed Vladislav Namestnikov on injured reserve, after the forward suffered a lower-body injury on a punishing hit by Montreal’s Cale Fleury.
Lajoie played 50 games in Ottawa last season, cooling off after a hot start to post 15 points. He’s looked good in BelleVegas so far this year, though the stats may say otherwise. Lajoie currently has five assists in 17 games.
Jaros, meanwhile, had 10 points in 61 NHL games last season. He was one of the last cuts of training camp this year, but has six points in 14 AHL games so far.
Nikita Zaitsev has returned to Russia, and Erik Brannstrom is still out. Cody Goloubef was expected to play, but left the morning skate early and will not suit up tonight. So both Lajoie and Jaros will draw in, with the defensive pairings in the blender.
Beaudin, who has recorded an assist in 10 games with Ottawa this season, and another in five games with Belleville, obviously replaces the injured Namestnikov. He will centre the fourth line, with Colin White moving to the wing on the third. Check thedaigle1’s preview for the rest of tonight’s line combos.
The Senators take on the Rangers at Canadian Tire Centre, tonight at 7:30pmET.
