Ottawa Senators Select Gabriel Gagne 36th Overall

Welcome to Ottawa, Gabriel!

The Ottawa Senators moved their 42nd overall pick to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for pick number 36. They used that pick to select Gabriel Gagne, a 6'5" right winger from the Victoriaville Tigres of the QMJHL.

In 2014-15, Gagne had 59 points in 67 games (35G, 24A) with the Tigres. His draft rankings were somewhat scattered by different sites. Hockey Prospect had him at 45th, while ISS Hockey ranked him 64th overall. NHL Central Scouting ranked him at 36 among North American skaters, and Bob McKenzie (TSN) slotted him at 61. This is all courtesy of Elite Prospects. So the general consensus seems to be that he would go in the second round.

Gagne is a tall, lanky forward with "superb offensive abilities" according to his scouting report. He has been praised for his skating capabilities, impressive shot release and strong forecheck.

So, in the words of the Ottawa Senators:
