Ottawa Senators Select Kevin Mandolese 157th Overall
A goalie is taken in the 6th round.
With the 157th overall pick, the Ottawa Senators have selected goalie Kevin Mandolese from the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles.
Mandolese, a 6’4” netminder from Montreal, split the crease this season with Kyle Jessiman, playing 37 games with a 15-13-2 record and a .884 save percentage. The Sens had likely seen him plenty, as he shared the ice with 2017 Sens pick Drake Batherson for the first half of the season.
Mandolese was also highly ranked by NHL Central Scouting, being listed as the second best North American goalie. He was drafted 13th overall by Cape Breton in the 2016 QMJHL entry draft.
Welcome to Ottawa, Kevin Mandolese!
The #Sens grab Kevin Mandolese LATE with pick #157. Excellent size and great patience on his edges - which is probably his best attribute. It'll be interesting to see if he gets any faster as he gets stronger. Good value on that pick right there. #NHLDraft
