Ottawa Senators Sign Colin White to Entry Level Contract
After impressing in the AHL, Sens fans might get to see their top prospect in NHL action
Hours after recalling Ben Harpur from the AHL, the Ottawa Senators announced that they’ve signed 2015 1st round pick Colin White to a three year entry-level contract. White will reportedly join the Sens in Detroit tomorrow, potentially playing in his first NHL game.

After being eliminated in the NCAA playoffs, the Sens signed White to an ATO to play in Binghamton. White shone, scoring three points (1G, 2A) in his first three games while playing top minutes and on both special teams. With Zack Smith currently out of the lineup and expected to return Tuesday, an opportunity has risen for White to possibly make his NHL debut.
Should he play in a game for the rest of the season, however, one year will be burned off of his contract. This has it’s positives and negatives, as although he’ll need an extension a year earlier, it could potentially come at a cheaper cost.
White isn’t the only college player to sign recently, as fellow top prospects Clayton Keller and Brock Boeser have also made their recent debuts. Let’s hope for the best for Colin!
