Senators Sign Depth Forward Tom Pyatt
It's a one-year, two-way deal for the former Rangers pick
Somewhat unexpected, this afternoon the Senators announced the signing of Tom Pyatt to a one year, two-way deal worth $800,000 at the NHL level and $200,000 in the AHL.
The centre has spent the last two seasons playing for Geneve Servette of the Swiss League, putting up 33 and 29 points respectively. Prior to that, he had NHL experience with both Tampa Bay and Montréal, for a combined 245 games and 54 points. Pyatt has spent some time with new Sens coach Guy Boucher, both at the AHL level in Hamilton during the 09-10 season, and during Boucher's tenure in Tampa.
Elite Prospects describes him as a two-way centre with play-making ability who can also play the wing and on the penalty kill, but is perhaps a bit on the small side.
He is the younger brother of retired NHLer Taylor Pyatt.
