Ottawa Senators Sign Paul Carey to One Year Contract
Carey was a depth forward for the New York Rangers.
The depth signings continue for the Ottawa Senators this afternoon. After inking goalie Mike McKenna, the team has now signed forward Paul Carey to a one year, two-way deal. The contract will carry a value of $700,000 in the NHL and $350,000 in the AHL.

Carey, a 29-year-old from Boston, possesses 92 games on NHL experience between Colorado, Washington and the New York Rangers. Last season was his first time receiving a steady NHL role, scoring 14 points in 60 games for the Rangers. He played an average of 10:15 per game with minimal special teams usage, while his most common linemates were David Desharnais, Boo Nieves and Jimmy Vesey.
Described as a speedy two-way player, Carey can play either centre or left wing. He seems to be on the fringe between the AHL and NHL, as he scored 55 points in 55 games playing under Troy Mann for the Hershey Bears. With Alex Burrows bought out last week, he could also potentially fill his spot there. Excluding Mark Stone who is an RFA, the Senators currently have eleven forwards on one-way contracts for next season.
