Ryan Dzingel Traded to Columbus Blue Jackets
Another of the Big Three is off to Columbus.
After he was held out of the lineup on Thursday night, it was apparent that the Ottawa Senators would be moving on from Ryan Dzingel. Then, with Matt Duchene gone, it seemed the second domino was getting closer and closer to falling.
Then, it did.
It was announced on Saturday that the Ottawa Senators have traded Ryan Dzingel, also to the Columbus Blue Jackets, along with Calgary’s seventh round pick this year. In return, the Senators receive Anthony Duclair, as well as Columbus’ second round picks in 2020 and 2021.
The Senators, executing their second trade with Columbus in as many days, are shipping Dzingel off in a career year. The 26 year-old has posted 22 goals and 22 assists for 44 points, in 57 games this season. He will be an unrestricted free agent this summer
The big piece in return is Anthony Duclair. A third-round pick of the New York Rangers in 2013, the 23 year-old winger is struggling this season, with just 19 points in 53 games. Duclair has failed to stay on long-term anywhere, having been on four teams in the past five years. He is a restricted free agent at the end of this season.
There are no conditions on the picks.
