Senators Trade McKenna and Pyatt To Canucks for Nilsson and Archibald
Teams swap players less than 6 hours before facing each other
After clearing waivers this afternoon, the Senators have traded Tom Pyatt along with Mike McKenna to the Vancouver Canucks for Anders Nilsson and Darren Archibald. The Senators also included their 6th round draft pick in 2019.
The 28 year old Nilsson has a 0.895 SV% in 12 games this season, the lowest of his career. It’s a much more respectable 0.921 at 5 on 5, with his struggles being largely on the penalty kill. To compare, McKenna has an overall 0.897 SV% this season, dropping to 0.888 at 5 on 5.
Archibald, also 28, has been mostly a career AHL player with only 52 NHL games in his eight pro seasons. In the AHL he’s got 167 points in 379 career games, including 16 points in 23 games for Utica this season.
Nilsson will be dressing for tonight’s game, though Marcus Hogberg is still expected to get the start. At the opposite end McKenna will also be dressing as backup for the Canucks tonight, and they have assigned Pyatt to the AHL.
