Peter Regin done with Swiss team SC Langenthal

It turns out Peter Regin's adventures in Switzerland were to be short-lived: The Ottawa Senators centreman has left SC Langenthal and returned to Ottawa

After scoring five points (two goals and three assists) in four games during his stint with SC Langenthal of the Swiss National League B, Senators centre Peter Regin is headed back to Ottawa. Regin, who joined the team about two weeks ago, was apparently only a temporary replacement for Jeff Campbell, who was among Langenthal's top scorers last season.

It's unclear what the next step is for Regin. He could take part in a fundraising tour of northern Canadian communities alongside a number of other players with Ottawa connections--including Daniel Alfredsson, who told the Ottawa Sun yesterday that he'd be interested in playing on the tour.

Or maybe he could keep hoping his stalled progress in negotiations with the Herning Blue Fox come through so he could join his hometown team in Denmark (and play against fellow Senator Colin Greening , who's currently playing for the Aalborg Pirates).

It's hard to gauge his progress based on his play in the second-tier Swiss league he's returning from, even if a better than point-per-game average seems like a good sign. Success against a higher level of competition is really the only way we can determine just how well he's rebounded from his recent injuries.
