The PWHL hit another major milestone, unveiling the names and logos of the six founding teams.

The Ottawa team has been named the Charge, with the following explanation:

The Ottawa Charge reflects the Canadian capital's motto, "Advance — Ottawa — En Avant," with a logo featuring a large unfinished letter "O," that also resembles the letter "C."

I'm happy to see the league take this step, so that jerseys and other merch can be sold with more than just the city's name on them. I'm sure there will be lots of opinions on what names should have been, but my general opinion is that branding sports teams is really hard. I'm happy to give Charge a chance, even if I will always be tempted to call them the Chargers and then have to correct myself. (As I may have had to do three times in writing this article.) On another note, something seems so Montreal about naming their team Victory when they have zero championships to their name.

Let me lead the, ahem, charge in saying, "Go Charge!"
