RTP Daily, Sept 9th: The Knights Are Back
Rusty Golden Knights shine again to even series
Don’t we all miss having multiple games a day?
While the Vegas Golden Knights and the Tampa Bay Lightning seem to be the clear favourites within the remaining teams, both the Stars and Isles have the talent and fight to at least make the series interesting.
Nobody expected the Stars and Isles to make it this far and they have played great but one could wonder if the Avalanche and Flyers could have made for more entertaining playoff series? Maybe tougher opponents to the favourites?
The Golden Knights have had a few bumps in the road but they always manage to come back with lots of strength and at this point, most fans are expecting them to win the Cup and the Stars have the near impossible task of proving everyone wrong; last night wasn’t a good indication.
Tuesday’s Game:
Vegas Golden Knights 3, Dallas Stars 0, Series Tied 1-1
The story of these playoffs has been the sharp turns teams take from one game to the other. The Golden Knights are one team that has had strange outcomes throughout the playoffs. After the Vancouver Canucks managed to push the series to 7 games, the Golden Knights looked drained, rusty and unmotivated in Game 1 against the Dallas Stars. Last night, the tables turned completely and the Knights completely took over the entire game to even out the series. The question now becomes, do the Golden Knights continue with running into hot goalies or having bad games at the wrong moments? Do the Dallas Stars have what it takes to tame the Vegas beasts? Will the usual offensive players for Vegas come back to dazzle? For now, this series needs a game with more even play and we’ll get a clearer indication of both teams.
Many questioned the decision to put in Marc-Andre Fleury for Game 1 and while I don’t think the loss was his fault, the playoffs are not the time to “experiment”. Robin Lehner was a key player last night and he has consistently looked comfortable in net so why make the change?
Wednesday’s Game:
New York Islanders @ Tampa Bay Lightning, 8pm ET, TBL leads series 1-0
