Senators 2015-16 Schedule Released
Sens open and close the season on the road
The league has released the full schedule for the upcoming season this morning.
As previously known, the Senators open the season against Buffalo on October 8th, and open at home against Montreal on October 11th. That home opener will be part of a back-to-back, with the Senators visiting Toronto the night before.
The Sens have 14 back to backs this coming season, up from 12 in 2014-15. Every single one of them is with travel, four of them purely on the road. One is a home-and-home against Detroit. For the somewhat paranoid, two of them involve Toronto (both as the first half, both in Toronto) and two involve Montreal (both the back half, both in Ottawa).
The longest road trip is in mid-January. It starts with the back half of a back to back in Washington, finishes with the front half of a back to back in New Jersey, and has the California trip sandwiched in between. There is also a 4-game trip in early December that sticks to the Eastern conference. The longest home stand is a 5 game stretch in mid-November, with a 4 game home stand in late October.
The opponents for the two 5-game match-ups this season are Detroit and Florida. Detroit will visit Ottawa three times, while Ottawa will make an extra trip south.
There are eight afternoon games on the schedule, evenly split between home and away. The earliest start is 12:30pm. All of the earlier home games are on Sundays. There are five late games, starting at 10pm or later. There are 16 prime-time Saturday games, 11 at home. All of the games against Toronto are Saturday evening.
The Senators will close the season against Boston on April 9th. The last home game is against Florida on April 7th.
