Picking up Hemsky for mid-round picks is a good move from GM Bryan Murray. Perhaps Hemsky will fit with Senators captain Jason Spezza and we can stop talking about trying to find Spezza a winger. The 30-year-old Hemsky is coming off a solid Olympic campaign where he scored three goals and recorded four points in five games for the Czech Republic. While Murray has stated he wanted to bring in a top-six forward with term left, Hemsky is a UFA making $5.5 million this season. However, acquiring the playmaker this late in the season reduces the financial impact to the Senators.
