Senators continue depth additions with forward Guillaume Latendresse
Senators GM Bryan Murray continued to add inexpensive depth to his team today, signing Guillaume Latendresse pending the results of a physical. The deal is reported to be for $1.2M plus bonuses. Latendresse needs to pass a physical as he only played 16 games for the Minnesota Wild last year, recording nine points (5G, 4A). He had only played 11 games the season before before undergoing surgery to repair a sports hernia and torn hip labrum.
When healthy, Latendresse has demonstrated strength, hands, and intelligence to be a useful forward in the league, but he has not been able to demonstrate that with any kind of consistency. Only 25, Latendresse represents a low-risk investment for the Senators. Though it is not immediately apparent where he might fit in, he gives the team both depth and a good transition contract while their own forward prospects continue to develop.
