Senators Hire Rob Cookson as Assistant Coach

More Swiss flavour as the Sens round out the main coaching staff

This morning, the Senators announced the addition of Rob Cookson to the coaching staff in the role of assistant coach.

Cookson comes with a certain familiarity to the rest of the coaching staff. Most recently, he has served as an assistant in the 2015 Spengler Cup for Team Canada under Guy Boucher, and with the Swiss League's ZSC Lions for four years under Marc Crawford. He was also part of Crawford's video coaching staff for Team Canada way back in 1998.

As for NHL experience, Cookson spent a decade as an assistant coach with the Calgary Flames from 01-02 through 10-11, and he spent three years as the video coach for the Philadelphia Flyers before that.

He started his career with Hockey Canada, and helped bring a decent amount of hardware back home during his time there, including the Silver from the 1994 Olympics, Gold in the 1997 and 2003 World Championships, and four Gold medals from the World Juniors.

While this rounds out the main coaching staff, the position of Goalie Coach remains to be filled.
