Senators Place Andrew Hammond on Waivers

Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman is reporting that the Ottawa Senators have placed goaltender Andrew Hammond on waivers.

It’s being reported today by Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman and others that the Ottawa Senators have placed goaltender Andrew Hammond on waivers.

It was rumoured that the Senators were looking for Hammond to go down to the minors for a conditioning stint after recovering from a lower-body injury, but when brought up, the 28-year-old seemed cold on the idea of spending a couple weeks in Binghamton.

While Craig Anderson was dealing with personal issues and Hammond was injured, Ottawa traded for Mike Condon, who now looks to be the solidified No. 2.

We’ll find out at noon tomorrow, but it’s not a guarantee that Hammond will pass through waivers. The Los Angeles Kings are looking for an NHL goalie to bail them out of a sticky injury situation.

Hammond played in two games this season recording a 4.50 GAA and .793 SV%. His career GAA sits at 2.25 and his SV% is at .925.
